.....Morrison
Biography:
The singer/songwriter MORRISON knew at the age of 5 years
old that he wanted to be a musician. Growing up in Chicago he
was always singing and performing for his friends and family.
His first instrument was the piano and then he learned to play
the guitar. At age 17 he went to Los Angeles to follow his dream
and started his first band. As time went by he played the L.A.
scene in various well known clubs such as the Whisky, The Roxy,
The Troubador, and The House of Blues. In 1998 he decided to
move on as a solo artist and received much acclaim. He was nominated
for "Best New Artist" for the L.A. Music Awards and
the Rock City News Awards along side of System of a Down, Lit,
Zebrahead, etc
.Music Connection Magazine nominated him
as one of the "Hottest Unsigned Artists" in the Country.
One of his songs, "Sooner or Later", was chosen to
be in the film "The Girls Room". Morrison started
opening up for National acts such as Slash and Duff McKagan,
(Guns and Roses), Warrant, Tesla, L.A. Guns, Bang Tango, Spencer
Davis, just to name a few. In 2002 Morrison returned to one
of his favorite places, Mexico. He had learned Spanish in school
and from his friends in California. He had traveled all around
Mexico and had a real attraction to the latin culture and the
people. He had always wanted to record a Spanish rock song ever
since he discovered Rock en Espanol and had heard and seen MANA
and Enanitos Verdes live. It was definitely something new and
different and he had a desire to do it himself. So he wrote
3 songs and recorded a demo. Morrison hit the streets with his
new demo and passed it out to kids at the Spanish rock clubs
in L.A. They loved it. A DJ from New York got ahold of it and
started to play "NUNCA". After 1 month it hit #1 on
a station in New York/New Jersey (Radio and Records) and it
stayed there for 6 weeks, the second song "Sonare Contigo"
stayed in the top 20 for 6 months. Morrison knew he had something,
so he got to work on a full length CD which he recorded and
mixed with produces Javier Ceja and Mauricio Guerrero who has
won grammys for his work with such artists as Gloria Estefan,
La Ley, Luis Miguel, Shakira, and Phil Collins
.
Morrison is still not signed to a label but has gotten his CD
independently distributed in the U.S. and Canada and is having
much success. Morrison is the FIRST American artist to crossover
to the Spanish rock market. He has been playing throughout the
U.S. and Mexico opening up for Top artists such as Julieta Venegas,
Mikel Erextum, Jumbo, Circo, Los Amantes de Lola, etc. In 2005
Morrison won "Best Male Vocalist" for the El Calabozo
Radio Awards in Los Angeles and was on the ballot for the nominations
for the Latin Grammys '05. He just produced his new High Definition
video "NUNCA", with German director Robert Pfitzner,
which will be seen on MTV espanol. He also has been contracted
to write songs for a new film "Slam Tango". He will
be doing a publicity tour throughout the U.S. and Mexico in
early 2006. For more information contact
